Paper or plastic?
Why is it that many checkout clerks put only 1 item per plastic bag? (Target seems to hire the worst offenders.) And why is it that when you catch them with a new bag in hand and say, “I don’t need a bag” or “I can just put that in this bag” they then wad that new bag up and throw it in the garbage under the counter? Is there anyone on the planet that doesn’t understand basic principles of waste?

Good point, but would you be thinking about renewable resources if you had to work forty hours a week at two dollars an hour under the living wage? At the jobs like that that I’ve had, they make you watch really crappy training films while your new manager tells you about “work ethics” and then goes out behind the dumpster to smoke a cigarette and concoct a scheme to sleep with the sixteen-year-old girl in the shoe department. I did all-right by your standards, though. I just didn’t work in those places very long. I’m just sayin’, it’s the system, man.

I bought one of those cloth shopping bags.
I’ve remembered to bring it with me into the store just twice.
It’s hard to manage one’s habits!
