Carpool chitchat
I still carpool to work. On most days, the ride is silent save for whatever liberal talk radio station the driver is listening to. But on some days, people talk. I always think I should post the good tidbits, but never do and then I forget them and why they seemed funny at the time.
Today I was driving. I picked up 3 passengers. After the perfunctory “hellos” and “good mornings” we were on our way. I was listening to NPR’s Fresh Air and the ride was completely silent right up til Terri Gross asked Pico Iyer if when Tim LaHaye met the Dalai Lama, he really thought that the Dalai Lama was going to “find Jesus” and go to heaven — and everyone cracked up laughing.
